Calling CCP out on this one. I couldn't get a teenytinylittle screenshot from Magnus on the 6th of March, but on the 7th he let Ten Ton Hammer video cap the entire thing. Jeez. I now officially know where I rate with CCP.
But the subject says it all, here is the video of Eve Online characters walking around in a space station. It is a very early look, we can probably expect this to release in early 2008.
"In 2008, characters in EVE will be shipbound no more!
You saw it at Ten Ton Hammer first. Magnus Bergsson, CMO for CCP, Inc. (developers of EVE Online) allowed us to videotape an early look inside the game in from the eyes and over the shoulders of player avatars.
With apologies for the persistent crowd noise in the audio, we left it in since Magnus offers some interesting comments along the course of the video..."
Comments: 'Never Played' by QforQ Submitted on 2007-03-17 14:27:09 CST Ive never played EVE, but man those graphics look awesome!
'Cool but for what?' by PualC37943 Submitted on 2007-04-10 08:01:22 CST The graphics look great, but the concept of leaving your ship in EVE to walk around a space station doesn't seem to add anything to the game.
The idea of board meetings in board rooms with your avatar doesn't make a lot of sense considering considering voice meetings can happen in game with participants scattered all over the galaxy.
I would rather see the CCP dev team working on other stuff that improves gameplay.
The fact that I don't get the whole ambulation thing doesn't mean it's a bad thing. I guess I'll decide when I see it.
