'Audio quality' by Jon Submitted on 2008-06-02 06:08:52 CST We record on a Mac and had some troubles with Garage Band failing to write to disk quite a lot. I figured out how to get Logic to work with multiple mics and now it's all working swimmingly. We also had a bunch of audio quality issues at the start while trying to get something called an aggregate device set up to handle the multiple inputs. Have you looked in the Audio and MIDI settings app? It might have a dodgy default setting for your input in there like a low bit rate.
'Ahhh!' by Akely Submitted on 2008-06-02 07:51:01 CST Long show! I like!
I found Patrick's thoughts very interesting. They kind of made sense to me, but I don't play WoW - so what the hell do I know!
I'm really looking forward to any Vivox functionality in EQ2. We use TeamSpeak now. It works fine, a little to much latency for me to be really happy... What I would like Vivox to have is similar way of handling different channels, and intra-channel communication.
'Patrick spot on' by darrenl Submitted on 2008-06-02 09:49:13 CST Patrick, you're spot on about the market and WoW being an anomaly more than anything else. I'm starting a support group for like minded souls who think the market isn't as big as everyone thinks. Sign up here:

'Various' by scytale2 Submitted on 2008-06-02 11:16:20 CST Very interesting to hear some industry people again talking about how they see opportunities in Next Gen MMOs. Reading "hesitancy" in voice to amend a quest or to charge more for selling a sword seems a long way off, though!
I don't think Patrick viewed WoW as an anomaly. He suggested it might be right now, but it certainly is going to be the first of many, in my less than humble opinion. I would suspect in ten years time we will be talking virtual worlds (which can be games too) with 30-40m subscribers as being the norm. We may even have that voice recognition by then:)
I find it a little hard to predict there will be no WoW-beater, when Warhammer on-line is just around the corner, which seems to me to be superior in almost every respect to WoW, with a much larger player base awareness.
Might also be worth considering that WoW started with a few less than a million subscribers, just like Conan. Difference is that WoW worked on more PCs than Conan does.
'WoW stuff' by LealaTurkey Submitted on 2008-06-02 22:25:44 CST Basically I think it is fair to say that WoW is the exception to the rule, meaning it is an anomaly. I love it as much as the next girl (or a lot more actually) but I still wouldn't consider BC as WoW 2 or Lich King as WoW 3. The content they are adding is fairly small compared to the realm of possibility. BUT it is, and has always been, their style to think "less is more". They would rather add one class, done right, than several classes all mediocre. I see both sides. Of course I want more and more WoW, but I understand why they give less. Quality not quantity.
'Enjoyed the Show' by Darkefury Submitted on 2008-06-03 06:24:35 CST I enjoyed the show. I noted that the phone number you gave out was a 214 number. If I heard that right that places you in the Dallas area where I live. Maybe we could have a brew together sometime.
'WB' by Token Submitted on 2008-06-05 04:13:13 CST I'll lobby in favour of segregating blogs from news. I've definitely definitely read enough opinions from people who can't see past Everquest and spend their days pondering WoW ( 90% of the blogosphere ).
