VirginWorlds Podcast #82 has arrived. Here are the topics of the week:
-BlizzCon Report from Patrick -SOE Fan Faire Hallway Conversations -Pirates of the Burning Sea Interview -Age of Conan is Delayed -Vanguard Servers to Merge Soon -Wild West Online -Tabula Rasa approaches release? -The VirginWorlds Store
'"Blizzard is not your friend"' by Sheldrake Submitted on 2007-08-14 01:56:40 CST I laughed out loud at Patrick's comment because its so true. I also attended Blizzcon and was so discouraged afterwards that I canceled my account again, probably wont renew it in the future unless additional progression content for non raiders like myself is added beyond 10 more levels that are really just a preparation for raid attunements. My impression of the developers is that they are 90% raid focused and its the raiding player that they respect. Tigole even made (only half jokingly I believe) a crack about giving PVPers their "welfare epics" and that raiding was about "working hard". I am moving on, playing in the TR beta (very enjoyable, nice change) and trying out EQ2 and waiting for Warhammer, POTBS and AOC. I am looking forward to trying them all. I might even give Vanguard another shot once the Game Update #2 and server merges take place. Troy has been a great cheerleader for that game and its on the basis of his podcast that I would be willing to look at Vanguard after having played the awful beta.
The podcast collective is developing a great community for "those other games".
Also... in regards to how the band's name is pronounced, could it be "silo" as in "missile silo" or "grain silo"? Anyways, enjoy your "break" :)

'Music' by QforQ Submitted on 2007-08-14 06:43:27 CST Nice, using a local columbus band as your outro. Pretty sweet :D I've actually played at the High Five, where they will be next week.
'Troy is awesome' by Kanthalos Submitted on 2007-08-14 08:04:14 CST While I haven't listened to VoV (except the first) and I haven't tried Vanguard, I must say that Troy's enthusiasm really comes through, and I think it's really cool. I probably won't give Vanguard a shot for about six months or so, but he definitely makes me want to :)
'Absolutely' by brackishwater Submitted on 2007-08-14 12:41:04 CST Brent,
The recording you did with Troy and (Other Guy - sorry) was hilarious. I think Troy's wife will be glad to hear he won't be living off of Cherry Pies for the next few years. I couldn't help laughing out loud at that one.
Great Show and can't wait to finish that interview about PotBS.
'Flying Labs & Perpetual' by Wilhelm2451 Submitted on 2007-08-14 16:39:24 CST I would be interested to hear if anybody from Perpetual was as enthusiastic about, or as self-confident with, their publishing deal with SOE as the guy from Flying Labs (forgot his name). He came across as not just mouthing some marketing lines about their deal with SOE, but seemed to genuinely feel that it was a win for them and that things like Station Access (which Perpetual is not joining in on) were no-brainer parts of the package.
As for SUWT getting more linkage: Of course it is. The show is about bloggers, hosted by two bloggers, and featuring more bloggers as guest hosts. Is there a podcast formula that would generate more links?
'Plus....' by darrenl Submitted on 2007-08-14 17:47:36 CST ...John being on twice bumped our ratings through the roof.
'Answered...' by Wilhelm2451 Submitted on 2007-08-16 20:57:14 CST I got my answer... it looks like Perpetual is pulling out of their deal with SOE.
'Well..' by darrenl Submitted on 2007-08-16 23:12:43 CST So much to say about that John, but I won't
'Good show!' by Beauturkey Submitted on 2007-08-16 23:33:41 CST I think it's kinda sad that you sound better sitting on a couch with yer doggie than I do when I'm trying to make a good recording. Oh well. Cuz you rock.

'Brent=Rockstar?' by QforQ Submitted on 2007-08-17 01:09:22 CST If you come to Columbus make sure to let us know. I live about 15 mins away from Columbus and it'd be awesome if I could get to see your band play.
'Undecided = Me' by Akely Submitted on 2007-08-17 15:22:13 CST Break:
I can't figure out of I think a break/pause is a good thing. The self-centered me wants a podcast at least once a week. But then a break would mean a refreshed and hungry Brent eager to... gah, my head hurts!
Kidding aside, I think Brent deserves a holiday.
BlizzCon:
I really enjoyed Patricks segment, even though I do not play WoW. Apart from being very thoughtful I found Patricks accent totally awesome. I sound on the Chef on The Muppet show and as amusing as that is it is not as exotic as P's.
Troy:
Must admit that T's enthusiasm made me want to try Vanguard. I'll hold of until after the mergers though. But I'll start listening to the Podcasts ASAP.
'Patric from France' by Token Submitted on 2007-08-17 17:47:14 CST Blizzard's PvP panel gave me no hints of hope for the future of WoW. As a Gladiator I am in a position to say Daoc RvR > WoW. I cancelled a few weeks ago unlikely to return.
