Voyages of Vanguard #32Thu, 28 Feb 2008 06:10:00 GMT [download/play]
This week Troy and Beau each have a small segment dealing with their
travels in Vanguard. Troy starts the show by talking about the
experiences of his trip to the San Francisco GDC. He then relates how
he is moving to the test server, for the next several weeks; enjoying
helmets, flying mounts, and the modifications done to many classes in
the game. Beau rounds out the show with a wide number of topics
including his "Immersion" into Vanguard and his adventurers with his
Raki ranger. Enjoy!

'Woot!' by James Submitted on 2008-02-29 02:34:26 CST Troy--your tell-it-like-it-is delivery mixed with your undying enthusiasm for gaming always brings a smile to my face as I'm listening to gaming podcasts in my dreary cubicle at work. Really enjoyed your account of GDC. Your podcasts are always a birght light among the usual cynicism surrounding a lot of MMO commentary.
'I like making this title bar have nothing to do with my post.. :)' by Beauturkey Submitted on 2008-02-29 08:45:54 CST Great show Troy!
Now just get rid of that jerk Beau and we'll be good.
Dood seriously though, me and the wife wanna' go to The Faire this year, if you go we should totally arm wrestle. Something tells me you'd win. But still. we should.
'LOL' by James Submitted on 2008-02-29 11:53:48 CST Yeah, that Beau guy is nothing but trouble. Though I pretty much soured on Vanguard after the "updates" this fall, VoV is still one of my favorite podcasts--and that includes your contribution too, Beau! Its also cool to hear your wife popping up as of late on various collective podcasts--any chance you guys are ever gonna throw together a husband/wife gamer podcast?
'Great Podcast' by Belepheriel Submitted on 2008-02-29 12:22:55 CST Another great podcast, and I agree 100%, RANGERS RULE! Hearing your adventures are bringing back memories of my adventures as a young Ranger. foraging has become so much second nature to me that when I play any of my alts I miss not having to forage. Once they put Tracking into the game, the Ranger class will be complete!
Happy anniversary to you and your wife. I just got my wife playing VG and she enjoys playing her Dwarven Cleric.
'Title, Title, Little Bar...' by Talyn Submitted on 2008-02-29 20:22:46 CST I do have a low-level (8) ranger, but all I ever hear in general chat is 1) they're over-populated and 2) no one wants to group with them, so I'm considering deleting him.
On a similar not, while I have been curious about a healing class, probably Blood Mage, on the whole Vanguard just has not struck me as a game for altaholics since the gameplay is so drawn out and slow. I like that, but not for having alts.
'Great Podcast' by Silverblade Submitted on 2008-03-02 18:40:21 CST I was part of beta and pre-launch for Vanguard but I just couldn't deal with all the issues early on. But for some reason, the game lingered in my mind. Then I found VoV and Troy, I blame you...I resubbed and now I am loving the game.
You've got a great podcast and I enjoy your takes on the game. Beau Turkey is fantastic as well. Miss having Karen around but I also listen to EQual Perspectives. I'm almost tempted to resub EQ2 now...curse you Troy!
'Psionicist /mind channel' by varka Submitted on 2008-03-18 02:16:14 CST I'm just catching up on episodes 32 + 33 and thought it was worth mentioning that Psionicists get access to an in-character global chat channel when they reach a certain level.
It represents their ability to communicate mentally with all other psions.
