'AoC!!! = age of change!!!' by rocknerd Submitted on 2009-07-10 09:29:41 CST to the gent who spoke of being curious about coming back to conan to check out the new stats, do yourself a favor and play again!!! let me say i grew up on D&D and therefore i have this absurd expectation for stats to mean something in games, lol. because almost every MMO has totally arbitrary stats. ( and i was disappointed when lotro even removed their melee equivalent of a DPS stat in the MoM X-pack).
now conan is set up so well, theres 4 pages of breakdowns for what stat does what. say your DPS is 30 and you mouse over it, it will explain what numbers make up that total. and if you mouse over strength it will tell you EXACTLY what it lends itself to to the exact amount!
i started a new character to enjoy the new patch and i was blown away when i looked at my stats at level one and they all said 1 !!! see, little things like this make me happy.
strength- 1
stam- 1
int- 1
etc...
now when u level it shows exactly what stats raise and by how much. and for example each point of con equals 8 health... i can go on, but let me just say the whole game has been reworked in this way. and im completely an AoC mainstayer as much as i am with LotRO now!!! i will be subbing both probably until SW:ToR.
and its worht noting that all the items in the game are totally reworked as well!!!
each piece of armor says how much it is instead of being an algebra equation...
for example, my lv 15 story quest reward chest armor is
light armor, lv 16
116 def
12 str
14 con
+45 health
so yeah, numbers that mean something, unfortunately is a rare thing in MMOs and i hope to see more developers follow suit here and make sense of their binary gibberish...
anyways, great podcast guys. i was actually listening while playing conan tonight, it was a treat. and please excuse my run on sentences and terrible spelling, its 5am and i had 7 too many horde mountain dew liver destroyers... \
