...why they allow the community onthe PvP servers to be so incrediably vile.
I'm no prude, but seriously the community on those PvP servers on AoC are horrendous. We're not talking just mega racist comments or just potty humor. We're talking about conversations about raping babies and other truly vile crap. I litterly quit AoC, which I thought was a decent game, because the community was THAT bad.
Worst, most vile, collection of MMO players I've ever seen. I kept asking myself, why does FunCom allow this kind of thing to go on here? Thats what I would have asked Glen "Famine" Swan.

Actually I never experienced what you are talking about,. I don't doubt that you did and I can, perhaps, account for the difference. First, while I enjoy pvp I amost never log on to dedicated pvp servers. I prefer pvp that is in a more controlled environment such as battlegrounds, scenarios, rvr lakes, that sort of thing.
The next reason I never experienced what you are talking about may be the crowd I hang out with when I game. When a new MMO hits the shelves the first thing I do is go out to The Older Gamers and find out where the guild/kinship/Fleet or whatever is located. The organization has (by one count at one point) 14,000 members spread out across the world. People must be 25 years old or older to join. What I normally do is log on, set a special chat tab to just guild chat and no general chat and have fun.
So if there are crude comments in general chat I purposefully avoid them. I apologize asking if anyone had questions in advance. This interview was set up as the result of "a guy who knows a guy".

On the other hand, Mr. Joe Blancato, Cryptic Studios marketing, is a guest on show 57 out live now on early release. You can read all about it on our web site at www.noprisonersnomercy.com . In our March 31 post we explained about all the changes to our early release. Mr. Blanacto has offered (as you will hear) to come back with more members of the Cryptic Team to talk about Champions Online. So if you have questions about Champions get them to us and I will get them to Cryptic. As grandma used to say "lets run it up the flag pole and see if anyone salutes it."

I'm sure the non PvP servers aren't as vile but I like the PvP server. I love running over a hill and meeting some one coming up the other side. For a moment you both stop. It's tense as each of you is wondering "Is he going to attack?". Some times yes, some times it's just a bow and move on.
I don't always want that kind of "wild west" game play but it can be really fun.
And yes, I should have disabled general chat. And no, that kind of vile crap shouldn't be tolerated on a company server. It makes the company that tolerates it look as if they condone it.
