Welcome to No Prisoners, No Mercy Show 73!
This week we start out with a discussion with our own big news of the week - having breakfast with Martog and Gowron. Next up is about the big news coming out of Cryptic: Champions Online going free 2 play and Star Trek Online launching player created content! This week the Pirate Bay made plans to shoot their servers into orbit - But only after failing to purchase the Micronation of Sealand. This is always something to be Mad-as-hell about and this week it's over Fallout: New Vegas. In the second half of the show Mr. Vlad Loscutoff, founder of MobRule Studios, spends some time talking to us about independant game development. For full shownotes go to www.noprisonersnomercy.com
See you online,

Arstechnica just posted an article called "Fallout: New Vegas is buggy as hell, where's the outrage? (http://arstechnica.com/gaming/news/2010/10/week-in-gaming-rock-band-3-review-fallout-new-vegas-bugs-bungie.ars)
Our answer is, of course, RIGHT HERE in our MAD-AS-HELL segment!!!

All I've been hearing about New Vegas is how buggy it is. It doesn't surprise me, though, as it's coming from Obsidian and not Bethesda (as the developer that is). They've never been known to release an un-buggy game. Look at KotOR2, Baldur's Gate 2, and Neverwinter Knights 2. All had to be patched extensively. NWN2 is still really buggy to this day. Hopefully they can get the Fallout bugs fixed swiftly though.
Besides being buggy, do you think the game is worth a purchase? Thinking of picking it up for a console soon if the story is worth it and the game is actually playable.

HI there JMO,
As for me, I was really looking forward to playing this game. But as we said on the show, I am shocked that anyone would release a game before it's due (especially a single player game) considering the economy the country is in. As for me, my take is simple - don't expect to finish development of your product (whatever that is) on my dollar. Finish the product then sell it to me. It's like going to buy an automobile and having the dealer tell you..."don't worry about it, we will put the seats in later."

My 'Fool me once'was when I bought Obsidian's fecal matter in a box titled 'Kotor 2 - The Sith Lords'. They wont get a chance to fool me twice, I still want my money back.
The part of the interview where Vlad was talking about developers staying humble made me think about the Diablo 3 class panel at Blizzcon. Those guys didn't seem very humble to me.

MMO apologists have been saying for years that we should fogive bugs in MMO's because they are so hard to make.
The last two single player games I've purchased (Civ V and FO:NV) have been horridly buggy.
The game industry is really becoming a bunch of snake oil sales men.

It''s done when its done...perhaps thats why I respect Blizzard's standards so much...I know when I buy something they produce it will be finished. I won't be sold something and hear "we will patch it don't worry about it." I won't buy a game and when I point out that it only gets 3 fps on the average computer be told "well it's a high end game".
As Yoda said, "do or do not - there is no try"
