Through the Aftermath Episode 1
Fri, 30 Jan 2009 19:29:00 GMT [download/play]

In this first episode of the Through the Aftermath podcast, your hosts Shawn and Jonathan introduce themselves to the post-apocalyptic community and discuss their intentions with the show. Some key points:

* Each show aims to be 45-60 minutes, and will be released every two weeks.
* The show's focus will be the post-apocalyptic setting as it pertains to Earth and its survivors in a dystopian society. This could include anything from nuclear holocaust to a virus outbreak to the zombie apocalypse and more.
* All media will eventually be discussed in this genre, yet the main focus will be on gaming.
* It is planned as both entertaining and educational, even going so far as to have historical information on the evolution of the apocalyptic scare and fun tips on surviving the collapse of society.
* John from Limited Edition will be contributing a regular segment entitled "Outta Print" regarding comics in the post-apocalyptic genre.
* Spoilers are inevitable, but there are plans to warn listeners with a "Duck and Cover" type jingle before the spoiler starts.
* This project will reach much further than a simple podcast. There are Fallout 3 mods and contests planned, plus an up-to-date Twitter account for the very latest news in the entire genre.

It's always good to have more Shawn and Jon. You got me playing a bit of Fallout3 again last night and realizing what a great genre it is. This time I was soaking up the atmosphere and President Eden's propaganda. I was thinking how EVE is almost a bit post apoc too and may be worth a fringe visit.

I'm such a big fan of this genre!

Anyone else ever play Gamma-World? MAN and of course there was Fallout, and now Fallout 3. Car Wars anyone?

Come to think of it, that may be why I like StarWars so much too. Tatooine was kind of "apocalyptic-ish" in the salvage tech and stuff like that...

Can't wait to listen :)

Good show chiiiiiiillldren! (awhhoooo)

This is going to be my favorite podcast yet, I'm very excited with the plans you have going for it and a Fallout 3 mod! Too cool, I'm working on my first vault home and the pathing is driving me nuts. But have to make sure Dogmeat can follow me in. ;)

Which reminds me, I think the movie that has really captivated me when researching about the Fallout influences is A Boy and His Dog, not a very good movie actually but something about it just grips you. Maybe it's the high intelligence of the dog compared to the humans in the show....Or the choices of 'meat' available. :S At least in Fallout there's 2 headed cows.

Anyway, this is going to be fun best of luck!

Been a big fan of Shawn for a long time. Unfortunately, I hadn't listened to much stuff John has done, but after this show I have a lot archives to go through.

This is a really interesting idea for a podcast--can't wait for episode two!

I'm really happy about your new podcast guys, I foresee a great future. Thanks for doing what you do, you're 2 of the best & Shuttler too for the mini cast.
I'm going to enjoy reading new books, playing games or watching movies & learning different things that are brought up in the show.
I always liked the idea of surviving in a post apocalyptic time because it is like a harsh but incredible freedom from what we have to deal with in society normally.
It would be awesome fun to do a podcast like you guys do but I'm just not talented and skilled enough, but who knows maybe some day.
I would recommend to anyone to check out everyone on the VW collective as great inspirations.

Great show guys. Simply awesome. I can't wait for the future episodes. PA lore is something that's always intrigued me and I'm looking forward to being able to check out more. I'm especially interested in finding some good books about it.

The more I play fallout the more I fall in love with it. I'd be interested to hear what you guys think of the level cap though. Is that necessary in this game? Do you think that is because of the DLC, will we see a raised level cap?

I'm not personally into that genre but any good podcast that' gaming related earns a spot in my round-up. I also think it's a good idea for shows to occasionally promote other shows. There's so much other it's impossible to weed through it all. I'm a FF/Serenity fan and wasn't aware of The Signal. I'm heading over right now to check it out.

The level cap is a bit of a bummer, I'd rather if there had not been one or if it had been a lot higher. The first DLC raises it from 20 to 30, not sure if the upcoming ones will keep raising the cap. In a way I hope so for console gamers who don't have a choice but to play the game the way it was meant to. But for PC users I hope it doesn't so we can play with mods that take away the level cap or raises it.

Some people are refusing to play the DCLs so I guess they don't have that problem. I'm going to play with the level cap on since I want to experience the DLCs. (>^_^)>
