'Great Show' by Shawn Submitted on 2007-10-15 13:19:21 CST Darren, I must say I'm loving this podcast more and more each week. This week is no exception. There were some exceptionally intelligent points made and I found myself nodding in agreement more than a few times.
Your 'How Big Will the Graveyard Get' segment was my favorite. We can never really predict an MMO's success or lack thereof, but it's interesting to think of the factors that play a part.
'Burnout' by Ariannel Submitted on 2007-10-15 13:28:26 CST Awesome show, once again! I really had fun listening to the segment on how not to burnout in an MMO. That has been my, and my hubby's, folly time and again. I think that game developers should take note, too, on the kinds of things that are causing burnout. As much as I adore and love WoW, I'm constantly burned out on it because the beginning and mid-level content never seems to improve or change. And, knowing now that they will NOT be improving that area of the game, makes me less excited for Wrath of the Lich King and more excited about Warhammer Online.
PS. Thanks for having my previous comments on the show! Yay!
Best Regards,
Ariannel
'Most excellent' by Llane Submitted on 2007-10-15 20:48:26 CST Hey! I must say, this is one of the best Shut up's thus far. There was just a great vibe and chemistry between you hosts and I really enjoyed it from start to finish. And - hooray - it didn't sound like a SoE marketing campaign for a change. ;)
Just kidding here, really enjoyed the cast and I'm really looking forward to the next.
'Hey, just a little FYI...' by Grey Submitted on 2007-10-18 13:15:40 CST The discussion about cross gender playing is always interesting, but the original story about the Chinese company (Shanda Entertainment) behind the "verification" looks very much like a hoax.
When I first heard the original story, I tried to track down the sources but couldn't find anything other than people reporting on it. Then a day or two later a post on ars technica went much deeper than I did, and is worth reading:
My guess is that this was a joke or some Onion-like "news" that managed to slip by us because of the nature of the topic.
This doesn't invalidate the discussions we've had about it at all, in fact I love talking about the avatar-awareness happening all around us these days -- I just thought you'd like to know that this improbable sounding story looks to be exactly that.
Great show as always, and I apologize for not posting this when you guys discussed it the first time.

'Everybody down dere's a bomb in dere!' by Arny Submitted on 2007-10-18 19:31:03 CST Great discussion . . .well seeing how I know both you and Kevin in real life and this is the first one I've listened to . . .sooooo I guess this is best one so far!!!!
Never really thought about the psychology behind a male playing a female avatar ,or vice versa, but it seems like it could make for a great collegiate level course. Maybe Avatar Psych 101? I'm sure that one would make Freud roll in his grave . . .
Any who, just wanted to say great job with the blog and hope you keep it going!
NOW GET TO DA CHOPPA!!!
