'Mass Effect' by Token Submitted on 2007-11-26 06:13:13 CST I don't know who said Mass Effect was mediocre, I just know that I needed to balance that wrong opinion of the game with a correct one. The RPG elements are typical Bioware but with many improvements over previous games. You could box the combat system alone and call it Gears of War in space and it would still be worth the money.
'Mudflation' by Sethanon Submitted on 2007-11-26 20:17:59 CST Great show!
The Mudflation topic really took me back. I think the first time that I bumped into this was during DAoC. The Trials of Atlantis addition broke the game into "haves" and "have nots" with the introduction of the different master Master Levels.
Keep them coming.
'Mudflation' by JoseJones Submitted on 2007-11-27 08:09:27 CST On the topic of 'Mudflation'... I think EQ2 has done a nice job of addressing this recently... EQ2 now offers separate equip slots for appearance and for stats. In other words if you liked the look of a nice piece of level 25 armor but were a level 70 player, you could equip the level 25 armor for it's appearance and equip a separate piece of 70ish armor for it's stats. This means that all that really GREAT LOOKING raid gear is still relevant from an apearance standpoint even if it becomes 'out-statted' by some solo legenadary item. This is a nice win-win in my opinion. Soloers can get some decent gear that might not look as unique as the truly fantastic stuff that the hardcore radiers have. However, the raiders can still keep their hard won raid gear and still get the stats they like from newly introduced items.
'ME and Reviews' by Jossfan Submitted on 2007-11-27 15:22:16 CST It was Aaron who commented on Mass Effect. His extended first impressions are still on his front page. I like them since after reading them, I'm sure we played the same game. I think the good parts of ME do a better job of making up for the annoying parts of ME than he does. Blue Dragon, that was a mediocre game. Mass Effect may not turn non gamers into RPG players, but its more engrossing than Bioshock or Halo 3. IMHO. 8)
As far as reviews, I think Yahtzee at Escapist is doing the only ones that any one is really eagerly awaiting these days. The rest of us, paid or unpaid, are just fufilling our own need to leave some sign that all those hours we put into playing a game mattered. "I wasn't just having fun. I was guiding others. Helping them shepherd their cash."
'ME' by Token Submitted on 2007-11-28 20:18:25 CST I just feel strongly about Mass Effect because it's got many features that I would like to see in an MMO. People act like the genres are worlds apart but I think if MMO's are still being made in 10 years they will look and feel more like Mass Effect. Hopefully alakazam will support the game so people don't have to walk into dead ends :D
'another great show' by hughnme Submitted on 2007-12-04 23:28:40 CST Couple of things
Digital game downloads in my neck of the woods (Australia) have intrinsic problems, being we have fraudband not broadband. here, downloading a 5 gb game is half the average users quota for the whole month.
I don’t have a problem with a game reviewer reviewing a game prior to launch,im guessing most reviewers would be playing for a while right up to launch, the game is not going to alter drastically after launch, and you have to review it sometime.
Me, I want a review when my interest is piqued, which is around the time the game is coming out

I just got around to listening this morning and was glad to hear everyone's comments on the digital download delays on my way to work.
Also, I must chime in with a disagreement that Mass Effect is only "OK". Everyone is entitled to their opinions. I'm loving it so far, but then again I'm a completionist and Achievement addict.
