'Muse, Cata, Hype Macheen.. 2011' by SmakenDahed Submitted on 2010-12-14 21:19:05 CST Win! Love Muse... good Canadian content there! :P
My only complaint with Cataclysm (and it's mainly the case in Uldum) is that it seems like every two quests you get an in-game cinematic. Too much! It got to the point where I'd cringe away from the screen when clicking the Complete Quest button.
I'm also a little unsure about the iLevel req for entering heroics since it's just iLevel. I could be wearing cloth (as a tank) and meet the iLevel req but I wouldn't be much good as a tank.
I like Craig's comments about the PR/marketing spins for MMO hype machines. Yeah, focus on making the game fun and explaining why it's going to be fun instead of trying to impress with some attempt of a new mechanic.
There are a lot of non-MMO games that should be out next year (or so they say); Dragon Age 2, Mass Effect 3, The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, and I think Reckoning (from 38 Studios), but I could be wrong about the last one.
Cryptic also has Neverwinter in the works, though I doubt that'll be out next year. That's sort of scary.
'Uprising' by Miffy Submitted on 2010-12-19 22:59:20 CST I played Cataclysm and DC Universe Online beta and they're both dumbed down MMOs that pose no challenge. You can solo your entire way through each of them and never die. I just became bored of Cataclysm cause Blizzard have dumbed it all down even more so you'll never die. The new content feels very cheap and very dated because they try to do things the engine just can't cope with. DC Universe was basically hitting two buttons all the time while you handled everything with ease and not even thinking about anything. Just makes me sad because my friend is in SWTOR beta and he said it was shit. So it's like wtf have I got to look forward to?
I really don't get why every game is getting dumbed down, nothing is of any challenge any more. EQ2 was really the last one when it was in beta and then they made that game so easy like WoW now.
Fucking bought my friend HL2 cause he just bums COD and he got stuck on something as a seesaw puzzle and turned it off. Like can't you think for yourself? You pick the blocks up to weigh one side down so you can jump over. But noooooooooo if it doesn't have an NPC tunnelling you through a level he can't play it.
'hmm' by Miffy Submitted on 2010-12-19 23:14:48 CST I dunno I just don't get how you can like the changes. The content isn't good, it's far too easy and because of that you get no thrill out of it. It feels even more of a grind because you just run into each area and kill everything until the quest updates. You can do this because no NPC can ever kill you. I seriously was fighting three elites at one time and just solo'd them with ease.
The talent trees now mean you can't have Hybrids as you have to choose one of the three trees to go down. I thought this was so stupid because they've taken away even more customization.
The flying mounts and all the fast travel in the world means you'll see even less people. All any one seems to do now is sit in cities and grind out battlegrounds or instances now as you don't have to go to any of them.
They might as well call the game Diablo and be done with it. They've butchered the amazing lore of WC3 as it is.
Next SOE will show off Planetside Next and it'll be like instanced battles up to 32 players. completely removing what made Planetside good and that's the giant 1000 player open ended seamless battles with vehicles.
If they do that then I quit gaming for good because there is shit all there. Just find myself playing all the games from the 90s because they actually made you think like Monkey Island 2.
'What pissed me off about Paul Barnett ' by Miffy Submitted on 2010-12-19 23:27:48 CST He'd always explain everything with blood and guts and all these kool animations. Like the Squig herder and how you beat the Squig over the head several times and it would eat you, then you controlled it via the guts.
In reality you clicked on the spell and suddenly you were a big Squig.........
