Star Citizen - This is my hanger. This is my ship.

Viewing holotable in my hanger I’ve said it many times. I’m more in love with the idea of EVE Online than the actual game play I experience. When I’m in “that” particular mood, drifting among the stars is relaxing and inspiring. For me it's something undefinable but there’s some sexy about EVE. Before I played the game, I'd read a good bit of EVE fiction and lore. In preparation for the 9th expansion, Empyrean Age, I purchased and read the companion novel. The first time I played Star Trek Online I recall wishing that EVE were a combination of what I liked in STO and the best of EVE. I wanted an avatar in EVE. I wanted space stations with players scurrying around. I wanted to walk up to a player or corporation owned kiosk to purchase goods. Maybe even see fights break out amongst rivals. I wanted to fly...

Star Citizen's Writer's Guide - Audio Version Episode 1
Posted by Mystic Worlds [HTML][XML][PERM][FULL] on 14 March 2014, 7:00 am
Whether you're a backer, fan or innocent bystander, I think you'll find the activity surrounding Star Citizen interesting and newsworthy. I'm a recent backer. While reading through metric ton of content on the RSI website, I ran across the Star Citizen's Writer's Guide. Although it's designed to support people interested in writing fan fiction for the SC universe, I found it to be a great resource on the lore and back story. While I enjoy the serialized fiction, I gravitated more toward this direct approach and may even pen some shorts myself. The guides are a daunting amount of information to remember when constructing a story that satisfies the published canon. I figured an audio version would be a welcomed addition. I will be recording all of the current installments, as well as any new ones that are introduced. It will take me several days to get the 13 existing...

Here is the audio version of the Star Citizen's Writer's Guide Part Two. I hope you enjoy. I'm still finding the long extremely long sentences and SC specfic venacular a bit tongue twisting at times but getting used to it. Part Two posted on the RSI website included a timeline which I will record as a separate episode so it can be easily replayed alone. Catching up on Star Citizen
Posted by Mystic Worlds [HTML][XML][PERM][FULL] on 12 March 2014, 7:04 am
If you’ve only recently become aware of and interested in Star Citizen (SC), there’s a lot of catching up to do. To date, Star Citizen has raised nearly 40 million dollars for its game development through crowd funding. Led by Chris Roberts, best known for creating the popular Wing Commander series, they managed an extremely successful KickStarter campaign back in November 2012. Chris and company, Roberts Space Industries and Cloud Imperium Games, have continued to gain monetary support by offering pre-purchase options AND subscriptions, directly on their website.

Aging Gamer with Less Time
Posted by Mystic Worlds [HTML][XML][PERM][FULL] on 10 March 2014, 12:02 pm
As the years go by, I find that I have LESS time to game, which is the opposite of what I was expecting. Being an empty nester and established in my profession, I had it in my head that I’d be able to game more as time went by. Instead I have a high pressure job and multiple entrepreneurial ventures depleting my energy and gobbling up my time. I also keep telling myself that I want to finish writing one of my false-start novels some day too.

EVE Faction Warfare I definitely should have considered that I play EVE in spurts before joining Faction Warfare. I have more moments where I’m not looking for an adrenalin rush, than moments where I am. I haven’t played in a couple of weeks. Work and getting my shop underway for spring and summer, having commandeered much of my free time, I don’t have the time needed to get involved with pre-planned activities in EVE. My free time, mood and temperament seem to be counterproductive to rejoining long term gaming commitments.

I visited with the Sister Julie and Sister Fran to discuss my early experiences in EVE Online Faction Warfare. Excuse the few mis-speaks. Been a while since on audio so a little flustered plus talking about a new topic. But as ever, I had a great time!!

EQN Landmark: Weekend in Review Part 2 of 2
Posted by Mystic Worlds [HTML][XML][PERM][FULL] on 13 February 2014, 7:00 am
Buildings completed, it was time to start decorating the interiors. Decorative items, including furniture and lighting, are called props in Landmark. Completing this part of my claim will take some time. I haven’t unlocked the highest crafting stations myself. Sorry, I don’t want to grind that much in Alpha. I am relying on the efforts of others to see the higher tier items that are available on the various crafting stations. One thing to know before you get started is that the prop recipes are metal hungry demons. Yeppers, they need lots of metals, so off to grinding I shall go.

All the gaming time I had available this past weekend was spent playing EQN Landmark. Server access and general client stability have improved since the last two patches. For all the claims taken, I still don’t see nearly as much construction as I’d expect. Perhaps they’re choosing to get all of their tools and stations before starting.

EVE Online: A Text Adventure
Posted by Mystic Worlds [HTML][XML][PERM][FULL] on 7 February 2014, 7:00 am
Color me impressed!! Surfing a few EVE blogs, I ran across a link to an EVE Online text adventure. It's very nicely done. There's something about EVE I find sexy and compelling even though I don't stick for long periods of time. It's almost like the whole game is pure RP because the elements are so interwined. You may not be "playing" your character but there such a butterfly effect from player decisions, you might as well be in RP gear. I enjoy the rich back story of New Eden. I like reading about player's adventures - good and bad. Yeah, there's a level of respect and admiration for anyone that plays a deep game of EVE cuz it ain't easy. EQN Landmark: Building Minecraft Style

Now that the disappearing voxel issue was supposedly fixed, I took a chance on building. The only build tools I have at my disposal are the ones we started with – Add, Delete and Heal. There are more sophisticated tools available by crafting them but I haven’t gotten around to that part yet.

EQN Landmark – It’s certainly alpha!
Posted by Mystic Worlds [HTML][XML][PERM][FULL] on 3 February 2014, 12:45 pm
I’m questioning if it was wise of SOE to drop the NDA so quickly. Waiting another couple of weeks may end up having been a safer decision. I will preface this at the start by saying, YES, the game is in an alpha and anything can change between now and release.

I'm currently installing the game but have to head off to the shop to teach art class this morning. However, I will be running around Landmark this weekend. At this point, most of us won't know where we're going to build anything. However, if we'd like to cluster near each other or know who's in the general vacinity, please feel free to comment on this thread once you've claimed a spot. Be sure to say SERVER, CHARACTER NAME and whatever regional information is relevant. I have no clue how the zone names/identification works at this juncture since I've yet to get in game. Happy exploring and flag planting!! EVE: Bloodbath of B-R5RB

Another of those flashy stories coming out of EVE Online that makes gamers and gaming pundits take notice. When a conflict in a virtual world escalates to these proportions – 11 TRILLION ISK in losses ($300,000 USD), people want to know WTF? When players go at each other with assets that cost multiple billions in ISK + months, if not years to amass, the story is worth the telling and reading. And so far as I’m aware, a player driven conflict of this magnitude and scale, can only exist in New Eden.

7 Days in Faction Warfare
Posted by Mystic Worlds [HTML][XML][PERM][FULL] on 27 January 2014, 7:00 am
Today marks my first full week in Aideron Robotics and Faction Warfare. There’s likely a few days lag between my writing this and publishing it but its close enough. All in all, I’m pleased with the decision and outcome. I still haven’t had my first kill. Grrr – circumstances are conspiring against me. *Smile* Across the whole time, there have been a half dozen encounters. Of those, three resulted in Aideron kills. In two of them, I arrived just as the only successful kill was completed and the tide was turning against us. Basically, I landed as we started getting boomed and got boomed with the rest. The only one where I was actually there at the start, I’m not sure what happened. I couldn’t get a lock on the target – was in range and spamming lock but it wouldn’t take. Suddenly my ship started melting out from under me and I had to warp out to safety.

Great fight out in Fliet. Aideron takes on null sec pirates while out running plexes. I wasn't there, as usual. *sad face*

In Space, No One can hear me Scream
Posted by Mystic Worlds [HTML][XML][PERM][FULL] on 25 January 2014, 8:00 am
As our small fleet warped to Heydieles, I was feeling much better about my ability to perform this time out. I wasn’t going to be a rock star but I should be able to keep up. Earlier in the evening, I’d taken the Atron out to do a few missions. The agents available to me weren’t great and it’s not really what the corporation advises – doing missions flagged as a Faction Warfare target. However, I needed combat practice that wasn’t sitting back as a drone boat, which is what I’m used to as a PVE Gallente pilot. Things went well and it also was a reason to zip around the region, getting more familiar with the gates.

Too many icons for games I have no intention of playing again. I don't see any point in keeping them installed. Games I liked but declined interest or needed a break from remain. I only un-installed games I have zero intention of playing again.

Using EVE Contracts to Outfit New Pilots
Posted by Mystic Worlds [HTML][XML][PERM][FULL] on 23 January 2014, 7:00 am
I don’t have much experience with contracts in EVE. I few years ago I created a submitted a contract for my first cruiser, the Vexor. I wanted it cheaper than what was on the Market Place at that time and delivered to my home station. Shortly after outfitting my blockade runner, the Viator, I did two small courier contracts. However, the inherent danger of being setup for a kill or ransom was more risk than I wanted in my life at the time, so I promptly exited the courier trade.

Many Definitions of Noob Friendly PVP
Posted by Mystic Worlds [HTML][XML][PERM][FULL] on 21 January 2014, 7:00 am
My complete kerfuffle of deciding which corporation to join aside, the one thing I was validated was the corporation’s stance on taking PVP noobs. If their bio didn’t state clearly they were ‘PVP Noob Friendly’, it was closed without further consideration. I have an ‘old’ EVE account if you go by the birth of my character. However, I’ve never played more than a few months consecutively and 99.9% of that has been in high security space, running missions and salvaging. Transitioning to an aware, proactive and proficient PVP pilot isn’t going to happen overnight. And certainly won’t come about because I clicked the ‘join’ button for a PVP corp.
