This election cycle, the voters of Seattle have elected self-described Marxist Kshama Sawant to one of the nine City Council seats. The election itself was a remarkable story, with Sawant running to the left of the incumbent Democratic candidate, Richard Conlin, primarily on the platform of a city-wide $15.00 per hour minimum wage. It isn't required to declare party affiliation when running for Seattle City Council, but Sawant nevertheless declared herself as representing the Socialist...
